Graduates 2000
 |
Chadwick
On March 11 the brother and sister combo of Chadwick and Cosette
graduated as guide dogs. Raiser Michelle Friend presented
the big guy to Thair Knoles of Fresno, CA. Chadwick is the third graduate
Michelle and mom Becky have raised. |
 |
Cosette
At a graduation, you don't give away the guide dog puppy you
raised; you just add another member to your family.Cosette was a significant part
of the McDowell family's life. Katelyn (pictured) and mom
took Cosette to school and dad took her to his
engineering office. Cosette has been partnered with Pat
Clark from Eureka, CA. |

Chevron
Sometimes looks can be deceiving. In this picture, Chevron looks more like a big
lap dog than a working guide. Yet, Thomas Panek of
Washington, D.C. will tell you that on the job he and
Chevron are a wonderful match. Chrevron was raised by
Nona and Christy Toledo. After his May, 2000 graduation,
Chevron and Thomas will travel the world together on
behalf of the U.S. State Department. |
 |
Renna
The partnership of Tom Baccanti of Anaheim,
CA and Renna is a perfect match. Tom is a very experienced guide dog
user and Renna is an extraordinarily trained guide.
Before being matched with Tom, Renna was the test dog for
a new GDB instructor during her State licensing
examination. Raised by Cristina Van Hook, Renna is a
textbook example of the dutiful guide dog. |
 |
Beret
GDB selects the best dogs of each generation
to become the breeding stock of future guides. Raised by
Sandie Arnn, Beret,
shown in all her maternal poise, became a breeder in
October 2000. In April 2001, Beret became the mother of
six pups. |
 |
Treva
If you are ever in Irvine, CA, be sure to
look for the gorgeous combination of Golden Retriever 'Treva'
and Valerie Ormont. On November 11 Treva was presented by
co-raisers Kaley Perry and Liz Scudder. Though Liz is now
living in Pahrump, Nevada, everyone in Carson City still
considers her to be a member of our club. |
 |
Arden
Just before Christmas, raiser Michelle Friend
was privileged to give a wonderful gift to Mr. Bruce
Gilmour of Vancouver, British Columbia - 'Arden',
a magnificent Golden Retriever. This was the family's
second guide dog puppy in 2000 to have graduated.
Michelle's mom Becky and the entire staff at the
Carson-Tahoe Hospital are very proud. |
